Poem

Dreams
by Langston Hughes
www.poets.org
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
 Hold fast to dreams
 For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

I choose this poem by Langston Hughes because I believe in dreams coming true.
Everyone has dreams and you can't allow anyone or anything to get in the way of pursuing your dreams. You must live everyday
trying to reach your goal and hopefully living your lifetime dream.

"It is difficult to get the news from poetry, yet men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there."- William Carlos Williams

I would have to disagree with what Williams is saying in the quote above.  I live my life everyday without reading poetry and I personally do not feel that it would change my life in any way.  If I suddenly just decided to read poetry it wouldn't change who I am.  I would still be the same person as I was before I read poetry and after I read poetry.

Success

In 40 years I imagine myself living in California on a nice big beach home.  I am going to have two types of cars.  An everyday car, and a weekend car.  My weekend car would be somewhat of a Ferrari in todays standards.  I live with my wife and kids.  My kids names are Jonathan, Kyle, and Lexi.  Jonathan is the oldest and is very interested in baseball just like his old man.  Hopefully he can one day play for the Mets too.  I am very proud with my baseball career. I retired at the age of 45 with 10 all star appearances and 5 Cy Young awards.  I have been compared to such Met greats like Tom Seaver and Doc Gooden.

Inanimate object

It is often called a pearl.  The smooth texture when I open the package appeals to my hand.  It fits perfectly, it feels just right.  The rough rigid red seams run across my fingers as I choose my grip. I love to just sit and snap it right out of my hand, as it makes a spinning motion in the air until it lands back in my hand.  Making a perfect release towards its destination and ending with a popping sound that can be heard across the field. This is what I want every time it leaves my hand.

Bad Secret

I remember the time when I held a bad secret.  I had this horrible feeling in my stomach every time I saw the person that the secret was about.  I was nervous and scared that it wouldn't slip out of my mouth.  I also hoped that I wouldn't be giving any hints that I knew because of the way I was reacting.  I used to lay down in my bed at night just thinking of ways that I could tell the person that I knew.  But I wanted to do it in a way that he would understand.  I was in such a dilemma.

New Years Resolution

My new years resolution is to gain enough velocity on my fastball, so that division I colleges begin to scout me.  I have had my velocity very high before, but i am looking to keep it constant.  I have been working out and throwing, but now i need to run everyday like i am supposed to.
