Winter-Time by Robert Louis Stevenson

Late lies the wintry sun a-bed,
A frosty, fiery sleepy-head;
Blinks but an hour or two; and then,
A blood-red orange, sets again.

Before the stars have left the skies,
At morning in the dark I rise;
And shivering in my nakedness,
By the cold candle, bathe and dress.

Close by the jolly fire I sit
To warm my frozen bones a bit;
Or with a reindeer-sled, explore
The colder countries round the door.

When to go out, my nurse doth wrap
Me in my comforter and cap;
The cold wind burns my face, and blows
Its frosty pepper up my nose.

Black are my steps on silver sod;
Thick blows my frosty breath abroad;
And tree and house, and hill and lake,
Are frosted like a wedding cake.

"What I like in a good author is not what he says, but what he whispers." ~Logan Pearsall Smith

A good author is one that does not tell what the moral of the story is, but makes the reader decide what it is.  I like it when the author presents a novel with an underlining moral to the story.  It makes the reader think, which I feel is important for a good novel to have.  I also like it when the author ends the book with a little mystery.  It makes the reader decide what the author's ending was, and the reader can come up with their own ending.

What is your most memorable short story?

The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe was my most memorable short story.  I enjoy reading science fiction and this story adhered to me.  I like how the floorboard makes the sound of a beating heart.  The quilt factor is the short story is very strong.  The moral of the story is to not commit murder or any crime, because the quilt will come back to haunt you and even make you go crazy.

Do you think young people today value their education as much as Sara Smolinsky does? Why or why not?

Young people today do not value their education as much as Sara does.  They do not value their education because it is an everyday occurrence.  Five days of the week you go to school and it just becomes a part of you.  You don't take time to ever think that your education will actually help you when you are older.  Everyone just complains about how much homework they get and how many tests and quizzes they get.  Everyone is is so concerned with having free time and hanging out with their friends, that they forget about how important education really is.  Young people today definitely to not take the time to value their education.

"There's nothing hard about writing.  All you have to do is sit down and open up a vein. " - Walter "Red" Smith

I disagree with Smith because when I write the words come to me.  It takes me a while to get going and know what I am going to write about.  But once I have my ideas down it is easy for me to write.  The words just keep flowing and flowing and it makes it hard to stop.  In my personal experience I do not agree with Smith.

Bread Givers

In the novel, the father is very religious.  Since the father is very into his religion and his studies he believes that women will only have the opportunity to get into heaven if they serve their husband or father well.  This is why I believe that he wants his daughters to marry rich, so they could have the best life suited for them to help them get into heaven.  This may not be the best route for his daughters because money is not better than love.  If they are not happy, they may not want to serve their husbands well and may not get into heaven.
